the dusty glass case.
- The eyes found a trout in the glass case .
- The narrator thought it to be a cod at the first glance.

who came to the inn and claimed to have caught the trout which was
kept in the glass case.
- 'It' refers to the trout.
- No the story was not real because the trout was not a stuffed fish but made of plaster of paris.
D1. The remarkable thing
about catching the trout , according to the local carrier was that he
had caught it with a fly.
- According to the landlord the real story was that he had caught it himself, when he was a boy ,without any art or skill but sheer luck with a bit of string ,attached to the end of a tree.
- The strange thing at the end was that the trout fell and broke into pieces. If the trout was a real stuffed fish it would not have broken.
