Class 6. WE ARE SEVEN

ANS 5. The girl told the poet that her sister Jane was confined to bed and lay in pain for quite some time and finally she died . She was thus relieved of her suffering . Later on her brother John also died and was buried in the churchyard by Jane's side. Ans 6. The girl thought that there was no difference between the dead and the living, and they were still seven sisters and brothers. The poet however understands that they are only five now. Reference questions 1.b. The girl says that they are seven brothers and sisters but accounts for only five. The poet wants to know how this could be. c.She gave account of herself, two in Conway and two at sea. But she said they were seven. This puzzles the poet and he questions her about it. 2.a. It was futile trying to explain to the girl. b. The girl thought that there was no difference between the dead and the living.The poet could not convince the little girl that two of them were dead. c. The poet is correct in his calculations. But the girl is young and innocent, so she should be free to follow her own will.
