CLASS VI THE EARLIEST SOCIETIES


C1. The things that Palaeolithic man ate were :-
berries
nuts
roots and
tubers.
They survived by :- hunting wild animals and birds
fishing and
gathering wild plants. C2. Ans. Man's first major discovery was fire. Fire was used to drive away wild animals, light up dark caves, roast raw meat and keep them warm.

  1. Palaeolithic people of Deccan dug up large pits and covered them with leaves to hide them from view. Large animals got trapped and fell in them , thus making it easier for them to kill it.

E3. Observing today's tribals like Todas of the Nilgiri hills and the Jaravas and Onges of the Andaman Islands help archaeologists to get ideas about the life of primitive man because they still hold on to ancient ways of life.
